A dishwasher does not scrub dishes with magic. It depends on spray arms moving water where it needs to go. When one arm stops spinning, the dirty pattern usually shows up on one rack first.
I wrote this guide for homeowners who want a clear read on the symptom before scheduling service. A blog post cannot diagnose a machine from across town, but it can help you collect the right clues and avoid the most common wrong turns.
Check for a physical stop
A spoon, pan handle or tall plate can block the arm without looking obvious once the rack is pushed in. Spin the arm by hand before starting a cycle.
Debris can clog the small holes
Seeds, glass bits and mineral buildup can plug spray holes. Clean them gently and make sure the filter is seated correctly so debris is not recirculating.
Weak water pressure inside the machine is different
If the arm is free and clean but still does not move, the dishwasher may have a circulation problem. A good service visit checks water fill, pump operation and restrictions together.
What I would check on a service call
On a real visit, I compare the symptom with the model design, installation, airflow or water path, and any stored error codes. I also look for the simple stuff first, because a blocked vent, dirty filter, loose connection or loading issue can imitate a failed part.
