Your washer should not need someone standing beside it to keep it in place. A little vibration during spin is different from hard banging, cabinet movement or a machine pulling on its hoses. If the movement is violent, stop the cycle and let the basket come to rest.
Do not climb onto it, hold the lid down or wedge it against the wall. Restraining the cabinet hides the symptom and can transfer the force into something else.
Start with the load that triggered it
One bulky item can collect water and become a heavy lump. Towels on one side of the basket may do the same. After the machine unlocks normally, redistribute the load and select the cycle intended for those items.
If ordinary mixed loads run quietly but a particular blanket always causes trouble, check the manual’s size and cycle guidance. A load can be within the advertised volume and still be unsuitable for that machine.
Did the problem start after installation?
A newly installed front-loader needs its shipping hardware removed according to the installation instructions. A washer also needs firm support and proper leveling. Mention a recent move, pedestal installation or flooring change when arranging service.
Check whether the cabinet rocks when the washer is empty and switched off. Follow the model’s leveling procedure rather than copying the adjustment from a different washer online. All supporting feet need the contact specified by the manufacturer.
Do not remove unidentified bolts. Shipping bolts, structural fasteners and other hardware are not interchangeable.
When balance is not enough
If correctly loaded cycles keep banging after installation problems have been ruled out, the suspension or another mechanical component may need inspection. Persistent grinding, unusual basket movement or a noise that grows with speed adds useful information.
Different washers use different suspension systems. You cannot diagnose a particular rod, shock or bearing from the word “shaking.” Testing the machine’s support and movement helps establish whether repair is needed and what should be replaced.
Make a safe recording
If you already have a video of the vibration, save it. Do not run another violent spin solely to record it. Photograph the installation, including hose routing and the surrounding clearance, without reaching behind a running machine.
What a good repair should resolve
The goal is normal operation with a suitable load, not merely a cabinet that stays still because it has been trapped between furniture. Tell the technician whether the problem happens from the start of spin or only at higher speed, and whether it began suddenly. Those details help distinguish a loading issue from a developing mechanical fault and keep the repair focused.
Before you schedule a visit
Take a photo of the model and serial label, and write down when the problem started. If the display shows an error, photograph the full code before clearing it. Mention recent installation work, a power outage, a move, or anything you already tried. Those details help narrow the diagnosis and identify the correct parts for your exact appliance.
Keep the owner’s manual handy. Controls, serviceable filters, installation requirements and normal sounds vary by model. A symptom can point toward several components; it cannot confirm which part needs replacement.
